Close to natural attractions and cultural offerings

Chestnut Mountain Cabin is nestled in a cove at the foot of Chestnut Mountain just ten minutes from the quaint college town of Mars Hill and thirty minutes from Asheville’s many cultural offerings. Madison County itself has plenty of things to do. Within an hours’ drive are many natural attractions: Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock, Mt. Mitchell, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway. But, just minutes from the cabin are beautiful trails on the property for you to hike to our own waterfall, enjoying the flora along the way. You can even bring your own fishing pole to drop a line in the pond in the field outside the cabin’s front door.
In the winter, we are a short drive from the ski area at Wolf Laurel. In the spring, summer, or fall, besides the major natural attractions, opportunities for rafting on the French Broad River, enjoying therapeutic hot springs, horseback riding, fishing, ziplining, and hiking are also close by.
